Overview of the Settings window
Note: This tab can be accessed in one of two ways: From the Updates pane, click Settings; or from the menu bar, click Settings and then select the Updates tab.
The Updates tab on the Settings window allows you to change the default settings for how you connect to iolo's Internet server. This includes the ability to set up connections for a proxy server.
As a default, the Enable automatic updates (recommended) check box is selected. When selected, the firewall periodically (approximately once an hour) checks for updates. If an update is found, you will see a prompt to install it.
To turn off the automatic checking, clear the check box. You can still check for updates when you wish, by clicking Check for updates in the Updates pane of the Home page.
To return to having iolo Personal Firewall automatically check for updates, select the check box.
The Edit connection settings link displays if you have the Enable automatic updates (recommended) check box selected.
Click the link to display additional options:
Automatically detect proxy server settings (default). This is the default selection. If you connect to the Internet through a proxy server, you can select this option. The firewall will detect settings for the primary proxy server and will automatically use other proxies if the primary proxy is unavailable.
Do not use a proxy server to connect to the Internet. If you do not connect to the Internet through a proxy server, select this option.
Use specific proxy server settings. If you connect to the Internet through a proxy server, you can select this option if you need to configure its settings. With this check box selected, the following fields appear, allowing you to enter information about the proxy server.
When you are finished making your changes, click Done.
